Answers to Questions often asked of Rath over the years...
I heard that the EH doesn't take legs...as in going down on your knees to fight...in battlegames anymore. Is this true and if so why? And if true do you take them in tourneys?
As in many lands, certain trench (ditch) style games are sometimes called as "no legs." Normally, this is done because of extenuating circumstances, such as hard or uneven terrain, a general lethargy as the day runs down, or a single sword type game where taking a leg is just
not worth the extra knee pain. In this respect, I suspect we aren't a "don't take legs group" any
more than any other kingdom.
That being said, in trenches EHers generally don't AIM for other's legs out of courtesy.
(Unless the opponent is wielding a shield). We prefer more debilitating
(and less painful to the knees) arm and torso shots. Of course, in all tourneys and (full class) battlegames, everything goes.
Are there any restrictions on who may take/make a page?
The rulebook does not specify any restrictions on who may take or make a page. The creation of temporary page relationship for the needs of a specific battlegame is relatively common. So is the creation of a Page by a Squire to a Knight.
What's the deal with Penetrating Arrows and Shields?
A penetrating arrow has two abilities... it is armor piercing and destroys
shields. It can't pierce armor to hit the arm unless it hits the arm and it
can't destroy a shield unless it hits the shield.
I have a question that might belong on your F.A.Q...
Then by all means, send it to me. While it might not appear here for all the Internet to refer to, I answer most of my email.
